    js13kGames 2018

    It's time to start a thread for this year's js13kGames - an online competition for HTML5 game developers that runs since 2012. The fun part is the size limit set to 13 kilobytes - check the rules for details if you want to learn more. The seventh edition start as usual, on August 13th, and end a month later, on September 13th. Check the previous years' topics for reference: 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017. There's a whole bunch of nice judges, cool prizes, there will be free t-shirts and other swag as well. Follow the compo on Twitter and Facebook for updates as this year will introduce a few interesting changes. So, who's going to participate this time?

    Depends on what exactly you want to build, but there are tools that specializes in interactive stories, like Twine.

    You probably did: http://phoboslab.org/log/2018/05/impact-is-now-free-open-source It was one of the best HTML5 gamedev frameworks (if not the best) before Phaser.

    The url to the Phaser min file is probably broken due to differences when you have it launched locally - check ./phaser.js vs /phaser.js vs phaser.js for example, or if the game files ended up in a folder because of the user.github.io/repo-name/index.html structure. Or paste the link to the game so we can help you.
  12. This can take from half an hour to half a year. Usually a few days up to a few weeks, often never. It's really hard to estimate, have to be considered case by case.

    So... is the player flying F18 jet, a drone, or F18-shaped drone? The description is a little bit misleading. Also, the URL is not working. The graphics look solid though, which framework are you using?
  15. It's quite strange that you don't (want to) post the link to your website publicly, it doesn't help with credibility. The offer itself is one thing, but it would be good to know some basic info about the company before sending anything.

    js13kGames 2017

    It's that time of the year again - time to start thinking about the js13kGames competition. The sixth edition will start on August 13th, 13:00 CEST and will run for a month. For those who don't know it yet: it's an online competition for HTML5 game developers where the fun part is the file size limit set to 13 kilobytes. Check the rules for details. There are always notable judges, lots of cool prizes, and free t-shirts for all entries shipped worldwide. See the forum topics from previous years for reference: 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016. Follow the compo profiles on Twitter and Facebook to be up to date with all the news and announcements. I'm looking for prizes and sponsors, so if you can help with either of those please get in touch! So, who's going to participate?
  19. Your game is going to be WebVR? Try checking out A-Frame Registry for components, should be something for the gamepad too. I did a fair amount of experimenting with the Gamepad API some time ago (using wireless XBox 360) with 2D games - you can check that out in this article, or this one, or in this repo, or try playing this demo from the Content Kit. What issues are you having exactly?

    Difficult game i made

    I can't even press the Start button - the game throws errors in the console about window.event and mouseX. Using latest Firefox on macOS.

  23. It wasn't Bitcoin, but another cryptocurrency - Monero. The Pirate Bay published a blog post about the experiment, but not many people saw it. The mining script did run in the background on the website and many people were surprised by that, even angry. In theory that's an interesting thing to consider and investigate in the future, but currently it's treated more like a scam than a viable option, at least that's what I'm seeing. It must be clearly visible, you should be able to turn it on/off and set how much CPU power it consumes, otherwise it will be treated worse than spam and will be blocked by adblockers, antiviruses etc.
