Select the right spell for the situation. Move into the right position to aim your spells. Trick your enemy with unpredictable movements. Win by defeating the enemy before he kills you! Controls: Click your wizard to move. Click on the spell scrolls to activate a spell. Plan your next move during your enemy's turn & pay attention to his shadow! I know it can be hard to quickly jump into this game if there is nobody online to play - or no friend available to try it out. I still hope some of you can get to play a match and let me know what you think! Side Note: Why did I build this game? (Not sure if this paragraph is interesting for anyone) I've been doing a lot of client work lately and so much work had to be done on Node.JS. Yet, I always wanted to create a browser multiplayer game running on an Apache server with PHP! Thus, the motivation for "Chase the Shadow" was born. I definitely don't regret doing this in PHP but it does require a lot of thought and planning - something I could have done much better. Either way, the game is done now and I'm happy I did it! Will I do another game in PHP? Probably not for a while. I wanna stay away from multiplayer games in general for now. Credits: The game was developed solely by me. 17. Hi, I'm new to the html5 game dev scene, and I've just released a game on Newgrounds. I was surprised to see that my game popped up on all sorts of different websites (game aggregation sites) that were monitizing it with ads. For this game, I don't really mind that others are using it for free (I'm just glad someone is playing it). But, for future games : is there anything I can do to prevent limit this ? I know ad revenues are peanuts, but I'd rather eat those peanuts myself

  19. Basic Phaser Game Example - ECMA2015

I've been updating my base projects in-line with ECMA2015 standard. There is a lot of good stuff I really enjoy in this. I think the use of classes really makes code more easy on the eyes and easier to manager. I've created a base project using the Basic Game example tutorial using some of the new stuff. BasicPhaserGameECMA2015 I've not setup the menu or gameover states, but that should be simple enough. Hope you guys get some use out of it.
  20. Help with scales?

So I've been following along with a tutorial to make my first game in Phaser. I'm trying to understand everything the tutorial is saying, but I can't find an explanation for everything. For example, the background image being used in the game is 400x32. However, the tutorial says the following: // Scale it to fit the width of the game (the original sprite is 400x32 in size) ground.scale.setTo(2, 2); My question is this; if the original size is 400x32, then why does seting the ground scale to 2, 2 work out? The game made in the tutorial works, and the ground does fit the width, but wouldn't the ground have to be 400x2 or something like that to have the proper width? I'll attach the tutorial file to this post so you can see the whole thing. I attached the tutorial text itself, and "part9.html" is the completed code that came with the tutorial. I don't think my code is needed to answer my question because I'm just following along with the tutorial, and it's just a less completed version of part9.html. I also have one more question regarding the ground. The tutorial says this: // Here we create the ground. var ground = platforms.create(0, game.world.height - 64, 'ground'); Again, if the size is 400x32, then why does -64 work to put the ground at the bottom? What does 64 do in this code? I guess I'm just looking for an explanation of why the code I posted works. I understand the rest of the code in the file, just these 2 lines are what confuse me the most. I'd greatly appreciate any help I can get, thanks! Edit: I realize now that in the first line of code I pasted here, the 400x32 is talking about the size of the platform itself, not the whole background. Still, how does the (2, 2) scale a 400x32 platform to fit the whole background? tutorial.html part9.html

  22. Robostorm.io

Hi there! We recently finished a web game with friends, here it is: https://robostorm.io Less than 7 MB, play in your browser Note: only playable on desktop platforms at the moment. Rules: You control a robot and belong to one of 4 teams (marked by nickname color). There are 4 teams and 5 capture points on the map, and the aim is to help your team gain control over most of these points, while shooting enemies. You will gain XP by killing enemies and capturing points, and you can spend it on buying useful upgrades. Damaged robots can be repaired in small repair cabins at the corners of the map. Controls: Use W, A, S, D keys to move your robot. Aim with mouse cursor. Shoot left and right weapons with left and right mouse buttons. Press Space to sprint. Press Shift to activate shield. Press B to open shop menu. Press Esc to change sound/fullscreen/quality settings. Made in 6 months (not full-time) on PlayCanvas with friends (me and 2 artists). It was my first experience with networking and multiplayer. One of the reasons I registered here, apart from sharing, is to ask a monetization advice. I'm not greedy, but right now I have to pay for servers, and if there would be a way to at least cover that expence, I'd be happy Things I know/tried: - I'm using Amazon AWS servers. They're expensive. Gonna check Linode (sounds good?). - Google Adsense doesn't like us. "Insufficient content" (not too much text - but there's no reason to have text!), and they don't like iframes. Many game portals iframe the game (can't do anything about it). - Tried some affiliate banners from admitad.com. 500 clicks, $0, because they mostly pay for registering in advertised games, not for clicks. - Tried ad4game. They gave me amazingly terrible ads. Like, bright pink, blinking, stuff like that Can't add those, too annoying. Do you guys have better suggestions? I've been told about licensing the game to game portals. Does it mean banning it from unlicensed sites? They actually earn money by embedding our game and adding their ads on top, and they don't pay us, and that's not great.. however they also bring traffic, and that's good.
  23. StickHero Game

So I'm making my first Phaser game for school. I want to make a game that is inspired by Stick Hero. The only difference is that the platforms are logs. The problem is the first time the player walks the length of the bridge but the second time the player walks the same distance although the bridge is longer. The functions i used are in the attachement. How's the best way to do this or does anyone have an example i can use? Thanks! GameState.js

Greetings to Community Members, This is my very first post here, let me give a background about my self. I am a full stack engineer, I've good experience working with Javascript and UI / UX design. I wanted to learn the game development, because i'm familiar with JS i wanted to use a JS Game Engine, I've read on internet I am not able to choose a good JS GE to begin with. Please can anyone help me out here.
  25. How would one approach creating a turn based strategy game in Phaser? We have the main update() function, sure, but we're not dealing with moving objects on the screen, rather updating the complex states of various objects in a certain order. Implementing my own customized update function that measures how much time has passed in mSeconds and then performing certain actions comes to mind but it's from the top of my head and I'm sure there must be better ways of doing it. I've been out of the gamedev loop for some time so I feel a bit stupid asking such a (probably) simple question.
