  1. The fifth edition of the js13kGames competition starts in more than two months, but I wanted to slowly start organizing everything already. I'll announce everything here, and if you have any questions feel free to ask. For those who don't know: it's a JavaScript coding competition for HTML5 game developers. You have a month (from August 13th till September 13th) to create a game on the given theme (announced at the start of the compo) that have to fit into the 13 kilobytes limit with all the resources when zipped. It is a challenge, but the one that spawns creativity. Check out rules and previous entries, forum topics from 2014 and 2015, follow compo on Twitter and Facebook for updates. Check the Resources page for tools and other useful materials. And yes, I'm trying to improve the rules, voting system, and backend from your feedback taken over the years. Remember: I failed with so many things every single year and I will probably fail also this time. The compo is suppose to be for fun, and I'm doing everything mostly on my own in my free time, so instead of complaining feel free to help - thanks.

  6. I've teamed up with the AirConsole guys and we're organizing a competition for HTML5 game developers. You can win 1500 USD and the Construct 2 Business license while implementing their API, and there are also 10 runner-ups with 100 USD each for honorable mentions. Compo website: developers.airconsole.com/#/competition-2016-01 The interest in the compo is still pretty low so you have a huge chance to grab that easy 100 USD. You keep all the rights to your game and will get an extra promotion through their store. I personally was always interested in Gamepad API, Panasonic smart TVs and such, so having the AirConsole API available to control the game on a TV with the mobile phone as a remote sounds awesome - hope it sounds interesting to you too. If you have any questions feel free to ask here.

TL;DR The Arbitrary Gamejam 18 (#tagjam18) is the 18th game jam in a series of monthly game jams: Each month is hosted by winner of previous month.Runs from Jan 16 to Jan 18, 2015 (72hrs)Themes will be announced 24hrs before the start of the jam.@madmarcel won TAGJam 17 with an HTML5 entry.More info here: http://jams.gamejolt.io/tagjam18 The Arbitrary Game (TAG) Jam is a monthly game jam with three random themes to challenge your creativity! Entries are judged by the host and winner gets an opportunity to host TAG jam next month. TAG is a game jam with the goal of promoting small and unknown indie game developers. The winner of one month's game jam will be "tagged" and is responsible for hosting the next month's game jam, pulling traffic to their websites. (That’s the prize or punishment for winning.) Participants can tweet using #tagjam18 to let others know that that are planning to participate. Themes The gamejam will have three themes. Participants must address one of the themes in their game. Games which address more themes will be rated higher. Participants have complete freedom in how they interpret and incorporate one or more of the themes into their game. The three themes will be generated using a random word generator. TAG is intentionally arbitrary to encourage outside-the-box thinking and wild combinations. The host also provides two optional bonus themes. Hope to see you there.

  13. Hi, I'm Cutler Cox. I am a junior in highschool who is looking for people to work with on the "Student Game Developers: Got Game?" competition by clay.io. I am a beginning coder, so I am not going to be perfect, but I work hard to be the best I can be. I'm looking for an artist, but other roles are welcome because I would like this game to be polished and well thought out. Most likely the project will be in phaser, but if I am unable to get it going on that, I'll go for impact.js because of the great available resources, and the competition gave me a free license. Once again, all help is welcome, but there is no promise of pay for anyone. If we get the game is good and we put in ads, the revenue will be split between all the collaborators. Thanks in advance!

  21. Hey guys, as Clay.io's competition is now over, I can safely present my entry : Radiation. Radiation is a platformer/shooter highly inspired by Half-Life and Biolab Disaster. The goal is to rescue scientists and to kill as many creatures as possible without dying. The game should be pretty difficult, as I really tried to give a feeling of a true disaster, and to make it really dynamic. About everything can kill you, you always have to stay on your toes. The game works on both desktop browsers and mobile devices (a controller will show up to let you control your character). You can play it at http://radiation.clay.io/ If you wish to support me in the competition, you can simply play the game, or rate it on the Firefox Marketplace, as both will be taken into account for the final results. I hope you will like it!
