I'm not a babylon pro yet but would think you could cheat on the collision detection: just place an invisible collider at the position of the hole as a trigger... when the player touches the trigger, disable the collisions so that he goes through the terrain.  You could also use one or more extra colliders around the area to stop the player going in places they shouldn't and activate them when the trigger is touched.

Yes it is an idea that I think at the beginning with a intersectmesh. but no, because if you put a cave models, it is impossible to see inside. the goal is to create real own opening to place models from a cave, tunnel or other. But your idea is quite possible, depending on the result that you want and the type of models that we want to put.  ;)
