Hello gentlemen!!!

Thanks to some colleagues here at Microsoft and to Temechon's team we now have a new toy to play with!!!!

http://doc.babylonjs.com/playground

And yes this is what you expect: a search engine INSIDE all playground snippets produced since the origin of the world!!

Have fun!

(please note that we still need to rework the display, but you get the idea)

Well done gentlemen - excellent progress with the PG!  :)

As JCP put it above - "Completely unrecoverable till now." - and as I found out when I went looking for some of Jerome's demos. :o

So I would like to nominate one of my favourites for BJS demos of what can be done with BJS - which I found immediately using the Search Engine - "The Roller Coaster" .

I may not use the PG a lot for demoing ideas, but I do use it for simple coding for myself

cheers, gryff :)

A wonderful feature!  Thanks to everyone who had a hand in it!  Fantastic!

On a related subject, is there a way for someone powerful... to iterate through all the playgrounds and auto-fix the many Compilation error
n is undefined
caused by the cylinder heightDivs parameter issue?  That would be the icing on the cake (even more wonderful).  :)  thx!

Thanks for the info, Jerome, and thanks for the PR work, too!

Back on the subject of the PG search results, I think a "List All" button beside the Next Page and Previous Page... would be ok.   Also, MAYBE... offer to show, or show by default... the first line in the PG code that caused the search hit for each returned item/url.

I don't know if that is possible, or desired by others, but hey, I'm allowed to dream and drool, right?  :)

I assume we cannot get a "How many hits in THIS PG demo" number.   (The puppies are just NEVER completely happy, are they?)  :)

Thank you guys for your support :)

@Wingy : The "List all" button is a great idea, I'll work on it with Jaskar. And we talked a lot with David about displaying several lines of code from the playground (5/10 lines surrounding the search term for example). We are working on this, and it's in the backlog of this feature.

Currently, we are working on the front end part that need to be updated, but as the documentation is open-source, maybe YOU can contribute :) Just fork the repo, update and make a pull request :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Ohw, after reading wingys post I remember that I found something strange, too. If I search something in the doc, lets say "scene" I get to this page: http://doc.babylonjs.com/search?q=scene All good so far. Before the playground search was introduced I could hit the tabs/labels at the top of the page (all, tutorials, 2.1, 2.2 and so on) to apply a ... let's call it filter ... now I can't. They don't do anything anymore. Also I can't jump to the next page of my search results with the "next page" button on the top. It always takes me to the playground search instead (http://doc.babylonjs.com/playground?q=scene&page=2&max=25&bf=all).

This bug is fixed now (thanks to Jaskar!). It was a nasty javascript bug. Can you clean your cache and try again please ?
