[WIP][Phaser] Space shooter - Space Phazphaz

Hey folks, i'm Tyjow,

I'm a web developer junior since a year and i share you my "second" game created with Phaser. (For the little first who i've learn, go to https://tyjow.github.io/Tyjow-Games/  : not finished)

After a fight to come on the forum, (- Thanks Rich) i looking for to share you my new game on which I working called Space Phazphaz.

I'm actually working on the next levels.

Level 2 is ready but i continue to work on it.

  • New player's sprite has been added
  • No longer heal when player get a level
  • Tuto has been added
  • Mid boss for level 2 has been added (FIXED)
  • New explosion's sprite has been added
  • Asteroid foreground has been removed
  • New asteroid's sprite has been added
  • New energy's shield sprite has been added
  • Loot : energy's shield has been added

Ubuntu Chrome/FF.
Slows to a crawl pretty soon. Please don't use WebGL.
When a bullet hits something, a (big) black square (alpha) is visible over the target.
Since it is not playable (for me) I can't comment further... (looks good though :) )

Very smooth now.

First, a spelling remark, it's 'to restore', not 'for restored'.
- I would like to be able to move diagonal.
- Enemy waves should move more interesting (circles etc)
- Start with slower autofire
- Have powerups like (visible)shield / missiles / drones / multi bullet etc

Basically, just mimic Xenon 2 / R-Type :)

Actually, you are able to move diagonal by pressing two keys.

I looking for to create a Space shooter role play, so i'll add more things later.

The first three levels are easy then the three next will become more interesting with more difficulty, for example like you said enemies movements, more powerups etc

I agree with you the firerate is too high for the begin, i will decrease it.

The game that inspires me is precisely R-Type ! :)

Ah, but while shooting it's 3 keys. I guess my keyboard isn't wired to go up/left/shoot. Never noticed it before though...

If people lose interest in the 1st level, they're not going to try the 2nd. I didn't.

Also can't go diagonally upward to the left while shooting. Also, the background is a little distracting. I think there's just so much on the screen at once.

But I like the game play, feels really classic and a good balance of enemies on screen at once, difficultly level etc. Really works well here. Only other thing I'd say is that both times the pop up box appeared and everything froze, I thought the game crashed.

Maybe an on screen cue (x / close) for the box would do well here..
