First game: CosmoTitan

Hello html5gamedevs community!
I, the designer, and my friend, the programmer, had the first experience creating html5 game.
The game is complete at 95% and availible here:

We would like to get your feedback about performance, gameplay and controls.

The graphics and sound are great I think, look and sounds very detailed and professional. :) However the game itself can be improved on some points.

  1. The green enemy bullets move too fast I think, they are very hard to dodge.
  2. Even in the first level the enemies take several hits before they explode. Why not start with single-hit enemies? Harder enemies can wait for the later levels.
  3. The shop layout screen is more complicated than it should be I think. Now you have to click on the items, which opens a separate screen. I think it can all be in one screen, so just a list of "[icon] bullets ($2000)" etc. And then the player can just select an item, and then either a "equip" or "upgrade" button appears between MENU and NEXT or something like that.
  4. Just a detail, the money power up is a falling white brick, maybe make it more clear that it's money by making it also green, or make it a $ sign?
Btw I tried on my laptop so no performance issues there, it runs fine.

That was really great, but I think it's too easy to get into a position where it's impossible to carry on playing. My natural instinct was to upgrade the weapons first. But this is a bad strategy because by the 3rd level the green-bullet firing aliens are SO hard and kill you with just a couple of hits, that it's next to impossible to finish the level. So I restarted and picked the "armor upgrade" all the time instead, but my gun was so weak it was taking ages to destroy the aliens and wasn't fun any more.

 

So yes.. very nice, good graphics and music and game, but you need to tweak the difficulty I think :)

Well, very much thanks to you, guys. Your feedback is very useful. The game was definitely hard, so we will fix it  ;) 

P.S. forgot to mention what clicking on top of screen skips level (this debug cheat may conflict with mute button)
