  4. Hey everyone, I recently contacted a few sponsors to get their input and feedback about my games and created a basic summery of the requirements they would like. I am not sure whether ALL must be considered depending on the sponsor, but it definitely makes your game look more professional Some of you may know all this already, but for GameDevs who are breaking in to the industry it could help them. Here's the general requirement for creating a professional looking HTML5 games: - Offers the player a deep in game experience and give the player a reason to return to the portal for multiple gaming sessions. - Works perfectly on Android, iOS, Windows Phone 8 and PC (if yes, name the device(s) you have tested it on). - It is optimized for phone and tablet. - Works in full screen (no URL bar visible) and automatically scales to any high/low resolutions (no black borders visible ) - Handles device rotation automatically (showing “please rotate screen” information). - Has a loading bar and optimized loading times. - Sound can be turned off/on (if there are any). - Text is separated from images (Google Web Fonts may be of help here). - Text is loaded from an external file to make localization easy. That is what I have gathered so far. And there you go, if you have anything else to add, I will add it to the list

  10. Hi all! I am looking to submit games to as many credible HTML5 portals as I can, the list so far includes: · Clay.io · www.kanogames.com · http://html5games.com/ · http://spele.nl/ · www.boostermedia.com · www.spilgames.com · http://www.agame.com/ · http://www.a10.com/ · http://buongiorno.com · http://onemorelevel.com/ For those familiar with the sites mentioned, you may notice that the majority of them are HQ'd in the Netherlands. The issue is, I haven't found any UK, US or Asian based portals. Is the list mentioned going to be an issue for global reach? I'd be grateful if anyone could suggest some portals based in the territories mentioned. Many thanks, Nate

  12. Hello All, We are doing some really exciting things at Mangahigh and are looking for an experienced game developer to help re-program some Flash games into HTML5. We are a UK based team that is changing maths education around the world. We have more than 3 million maths questions answered on our site everyday and have developed an engaging game-based teaching platform that has been adopted by over 5k schools. In your first project, you would work on one of our flagship game that teaches students about Angles, from basic rules to circle theorems. The game was originally created using Flash but in order for the game to be accessible for everyone it needs to be re-made in HTML5 following a mobile-first approach. We are looking for someone who is passionate about games that make a difference, fluent in Javascript and has a strong command of Phaser and HTML5. You would also be required to integrate the game with our teaching platform using a JSON API. Ideal candidate will be self motivated, will bring in fresh ideas and have a strong work ethic. Please get in touch with us at jobs@mangahigh.com, providing a link to your portfolio of HTML5 games. Thanks Bobbie
  13. Hi everyone! A while ago I made some HTML5 games and licensed them for money. Recently I made some flash games but that market seems to be dying. Is the HTML5 market doing any better? Is it worth it to make a HTML5 game? Let's say I take a week to two weeks to make the game. Would I be able to get at least 1k from exclusive or non-exclusive deals? What quality target am I looking at? Anything shining light onto the topic is greatly appreciated!

I used Google's AdSense (for YouTube) for 1 years and it was really good. But it seems like i can't use it on one-page games. I find AdMob but i think it's for only Android and iOS... What do you think about best ad network for web games? Which one you use?

  20. Hey all, I posted in the "Games made with Phaser" mega thread but I thought it might be nice to have a specific place for people who made a game with Phaser for the Ludum Dare 35 game jam to post their games so that other Phaser developers who also made games can see and rate them. As it stands, it's really hard to find Phaser games on the Ludum Dare website. Mine is Transform! The Three Natures You can find links to the game and the source via the Ludum Dare website page.

  24. Dear readers, I have been developing a game 'Cosmic Cargo' - it is nearing completion and I am hoping to get some feedback on the game. It's an arcadey 2D spaceship game, the aim of which is to fly as far along the cargo route as you can. The gravity fields of nearby planets are both a hazard and a useful resource for guiding the ship along your flight path. This was designed as a multiplayer game but I've recently added a single player version for those who would otherwise experience high latency in connecting to the London based server. The ship points at your mouse cursor, it's left click to use standard thrusters, right click to boost. The winner of the game is the player who makes it furthest along the route, or the player who completes that distance in the shortest time. Fuel conservation is crucial if you want to make a long journey. The game itself is drawn in the HTML Canvas, with the HUD area being HTML elements altered with JavaScript/CSS. The server is done with Socket.io. It is not mobile friendly and probably won't be - but should work on any up to date browser. Here's what it looks like. Feedback on any area of the game would be greatly appreciated - gameplay, graphics, UI, the code, any bugs, or any things surrounding HTML game production. I am an amateur coder and this was largely a learning exercise that I got a bit carried away with so please feel free to make your thoughts known! If you have any questions about the game I'm more than happy to answer them. Here's a link: http://cosmic-cargo.tbellew.co.uk/ Kind regards, -BuRrRrrRrRrrrRrrrRrrr
