pickWithRay angle

Hi people, a question, I want to turn on a menu when I put a point on a mesh, in this case a crosshair over a sphere.

but when I move the menutrigger in the .y = 1 position, it does not work. is then the height of the ray is no longer correct?

I want to have the ray in the same angle as the camera, so i can still hit the menutrigger if the menutrigger is on other positions.

or the approach is wrong?
