Hi all, I made a small browser life simulator: https://1in8billion.live You're born somewhere among ~8 billion people. The birthplace is drawn by weighted random across 172 countries, weighted by real annual births (UN World Population Prospects / World Bank). From there you live one life year by year: schooling, health, income and life expectancy all come from that country's real indicators. Some technical notes: - Built on the open-source, MIT-licensed born-somewhere engine; I added the UI, the localisation (9 languages: EN, DE, ES, FR, pt-BR, zh-Hans, zh-Hant, JA, KO) and a few extra modes. - Births-weighted draw: cumulative distribution over country birth counts plus one uniform random number, so Indian and Nigerian births come up far more often than Icelandic ones, just like reality. - Static HTML5/JS site, no sign-up, works on desktop and mobile. - Extra modes: a two-country compare, a fictional family tree, a lab mode, and a classroom mode for teachers: https://1in8billion.live/?edu=1 Free to play, optional US$2.99 Keepsake card. I'd love feedback on the pacing of the year-by-year loop and on the mobile layout. Thanks for playing!
