Lensflare when light is not visible

Hey guys!

 

I'm in the middle of setting up a day-night system for my game.

 

I have this lovely sun that goes around...

 

And a flaresystem...

 

Then when the sun goes down, you can still see the flares. In other words, the flares go through walls and meshes and stuff.

 

:(

 

How could this be fixed?

Is there a planned feature to make the flares fade or something when their partly hidden, or something?

 

Cause the flares no worky for sunsets and such. :3

 

On a slightly different matter:

Is it possible to detect whether a ray "intersects" a sprite? I need this to make the flares filter through the clouds. :D
