GM: Studio - Are your games still loading on desktop browsers?

I am working with a client and it turns that the game I sent them wont load on desktop browsers. I thought it was weird so I tested it  on chrome and it really didn't load. Then I went to my website and it turns out that only 2 out of 9 of my games will load on desktop. This games where all working before and are all made with very different versions of GM.

 

Am I the only one being attacked by this weirdness? I haven't tested on other browsers yet since I had to rush here and spread the word but I will update my post.

 

I am on windows xp, chrome, GM version 1.3.1354, Mobility Engine for scaling. All of this is probably irrelevant since my client probably has a better computer than I. I have always had the same one and the games where working fine, especially the older ones. Chrome has always been good to me, but it might be at fault now?. Most games where compiled on different versions of GM. And the Mobility Engine, well, its just a scaling engine.

 

So check your own games just in case, let me know how it all works for you.

Hello, 

I tried several of the games on your website. Most seem to play ok after resizing the browser window to "portrait" mode dimensions.  Some of the  other games seemed to have problem loading, but seems to be network issue to dropbox.

You might also try clearing your browser cache and checking for any anti spam plugins like adblock.

Your games are working for me, I tested them in chrome and they loaded fine without having to do anything. GL solving the issue, Might want to see if it might be a javescript or css issue by loading up a web developer plugin like firebug and playing with your css/html/js settings.

Chrome apparently updated some API which breaks only breaks games made with GMS.

Quite unfortunate that this only affects games made with GameMaker: Studio. The EA version 1.99 fixes this issue, but still, a lot of sponsors are going to be very unhappy. How other engines didn't get affected by this I don't know.

 

P.S The EA 1.99 version has INCREDIBLE performance issues with HTML5 games on iOS. I mean, incredible. I have no idea how that version got past QA. I'm having serious doubts about the processes YoYo have with testing at the moment. It seems they don't test these things and only respond when users submit bug reports. This could be just my frustration though, but who wouldn't be frustrated.

This is bad. I really should have learned a proper programming language when I had the chance...or not. Well I just hope it gets fixed ASAP!

 

Fortunately for me, the client I'm working with doesn't care about desktop since the games will run from a mobile app. Still they where nice enough to point the problem out.

You can solve the problem by replacing all createGainNode with createGain. This helps if you don't use sound effects in your games.

Yoyo use a deprecated function/s and now they blame Google because Google removed it from their api.
