Chaining sprites to form a snake, tail or dragons neck

I've seen this a lot in classic games. A group of balls chained together to form the neck, or tail of a larger enemy or even the entire body of a snake or worm creature. Does anyone have any examples or tutorials that show how to do this with Phaser?

There are a bunch of examples of bosses that have this from Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. If you are not sure what I'm talking about check out this video at 44 seconds, at 1:45, at 5:18 and at 11:06

Just make string segments of your snake body from sprites. I used similar approach for rainbow trail behind player in this game: https://www.gameeapp.com/game/yo9dVVzSRi
