Squba
In 2016, I designed the characters and levels for Squba. Development was too expensive, so the project never made it beyond Illustrator files. Two weeks ago, I dropped those designs into Claude with a short brief and started building. I’m an art director and an amateur vibe coder. I went back and forth with Claude and GPT, directing gameplay, timing, physics and feel while AI wrote the code. Test, tweak, repeat. A rough prototype gradually became a game with more mechanics, tricks and combinations. Then I uploaded it to game portals, watched recordings of real players and used those to refine the gameplay. Seeing someone struggle with something you thought was obvious is a pretty effective briefing. The result: Squba Bash. Colorful arcade chaos controlled with one button. Built over two weeks of evenings. What surprised me most was being able to art-direct how the game behaves, right down to the code. An idea I’d parked for a decade was suddenly something I could build and iterate myself. Give it a few minutes and tell me what you think. What feels good? Where does it lose you? 👉 https://www.crazygames.com/game/squba-bash Anyone else bringing abandoned projects back to life this way? The possibilities of vibe coding still amaze me. So did the Claude credit bills I found in my spam folder. ;)
