Denis-N
Hi everyone, I'm sharing GrammarRift on behalf of the GrammarRift team. It is a work-in-progress browser dungeon game where English grammar questions are part of combat. Play: https://grammarift.xyz/?utm_source=html5gamedevs&utm_medium=community&utm_campaign=descent_20261013_distribution&utm_content=showcase_v1 Choose "Try a guest descent", then "Grammar dungeons". Crossroads Sewers focuses on prepositions; the other schools cover nouns, articles, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions, clauses and questions. There is also a mixed descent. Correct answers improve your d12 modifier, but the die still affects the outcome. After an answer, the game shows an explanation and the encounter result. Rooms and temporary relics change across runs; guest progress stays on your device. Optional account sign-in supports account saves on the official site. For fellow HTML5 developers: the frontend uses HTML, CSS and JavaScript, with a bundled question bank and separate background/creature layers. Media generation happens offline rather than during an encounter. AI disclosure: AI assistance was used during development. The release includes generated artwork and Google Lyria music, alongside recorded Kenney CC0 sound effects. These screenshots are unedited captures of the playable game. We would appreciate feedback on two points: 1. Is the relationship between your answer, the English modifier and the die result clear after the first encounter? 2. Do the explanation and the enemy response help you understand what happened? This is supplementary English practice; learning effectiveness has not been measured. Screenshot 2: See the answer explanation and the actual die result. onomogo
manuelcondect
I went in as a guest and started Crossroads Sewers; the first room asked me to finish 'The scroll is ___ the sealed box.', and the breakdown afterwards showed the d12, the English bonus and the total against the DC, so it was easy to see why the hit landed. Two rooms later that same sentence came back with only the options shuffled, which felt like a free repeat that early into a run, so is the pool per room or per descent? I also answered one wrong on purpose against the bat, and with the panel showing Wrong answer and a -1 I still cannot tell whether a wrong line can beat the DC on a high roll or whether it is an automatic miss.
