clipping texture

Is it possible to load bigger texture (then mesh) and then to clip it by mesh dimensions? Behaviour I'm trying to achieve is that I have a moving mesh and when i move mesh only on part of the texture actually is used as mesh texture.

Why am I doing this:
I need that more than four spot lighs have efect on different parts of one mesh. So idea is to create a smaller copy of big mesh which has slightly lower z position, so that all lights are not actually affecting mesh but smaller meshes instead. It works if there's no texture or texture is linear but with complex textures it easily seen that there are "help" meshes.
