When created, sprites flicker at 0,0 before moving to given position

I get this bug on latest versions of both v2 and CE. When I add sprites to the world they first flicker (for like 1 frame) in position 0,0 before they are moved to the given position. I found another thread about the same issue here:

But unlike him, I never use game.time.slowMotion so I don't really know what to do here.

Using an older version like 2.4.7 fixes the problem (but creates a bunch of other problems I'd rather not want to have to deal with). Any tips or ideas how I could work around the issue?
