Babylon texture memory policy

What's the policy for textures, if they are not longer used they are released?

They are released in case they are not in use and the memory usage becomes critical?

I'm asking this since I'm trying to develop something like a VR walktrhough using panoramic spheres and if it is so big it could fill a low-end mobile device.

Thank you in advance.

I can not give you an answer, as I do not know, but keep believe they are cached for faster re-creation of materials used by them.

Why I am answering this is if you are concerned about memory, you should really be looking at compressed textures to cut down the problem that way.  The impact is massive the larger the texture being used.
