Pryme8
has anyone implemented https://artomatix.com/product/#product-call-integrations in babylon yet? Or do we have any similar systems?
Dad72
Nothing suggests that this is done with Babylon. For my part I would say no.
Wingnut
Hi guys. That might be a good addition to the third party material editor. Probably not apropos for a webGL framework/engine, though. Still trying to convert BJS into a Swiss army knife, P8? I think the Babylon Income Generator is still the most requested future-feature, followed by the BJS expresso maker, real-world weather editor, real vehicle spawner, and then the girlfriend generator. And the core team is SERIOUSLY dragging their feet... on adding those highly-requested features. What the heck, huh? Just having some fun... stay cool. Wouldn't it be nice to have those Artomatix features... at hardware level, though? Intel Texture Workstation Chip. It sits next to the NVidia Audio Workstation Chip. Yum. (Hey, I get to dream, too, right?) What have you two been doing lately? Both of you coding Gods have sort-of wandered-off, lately. Good to see you both. Sorry if I derailed the thread topic. Dad72
@Wingnut I should get a new project before the end of the year I think. And I'm in parallel on another project of an application for a small business for "murder party". No I'm not off. . . GameMonetize
Pryme8
Im focusing on shaders this month now cause that's what I need to learn to finish my projects. Im pretty sure I thought up a method that will be similar to artomatix but way more rudimentary. What I was thinking is store like lets say 6 grass textures or dirt what have you in an array, and have all of them be tile-able with each other but with different key features on the main portion, then have my shader split the object up into blocks and randomly assign one of the textures from the array... blah blah but anyways that should simulate what they are doing correct? Wingnut
Oh, I think its much more complicated than that. 2 claims they state - "make any texture seamless" and "make an image continue in any direction, forever"... that's no small claim. I think there needs to be some advanced pattern recognition and "averaging" algorithms happening... to accomplish that. Processing time. I doubt you will be able make this happen on-the-fly. I think it starts with a web search... to see what seam-removal techniques are already coded/studied. If it is a repeating pattern texture, perhaps a quick analysis could be done and some shader-built "putty" could try to remove the seam... or even try to continue the pattern... forever. But trying to putty-together a panorama photo... into a seamless 360 degree QuicktimeVR-like thing... phew... scary. Major image analysis likely needed, and artifacts galore, I would suspect. But... this tech is way over my little head... so why I am yapping?
Pryme8
Im not talking about doing exactly what their are doing but doing a pseudo random tile system that you will have to supply the seamless textures to work.
