Hello!

I'm Paweł, Community and Content Manager at Defold Foundation, where we make one of the lightest and fastest game engines which is definitely perfectly suited for web games! ;) Defold already supports WebGPU, empty HTML5 project is around 1.06 MB, and we have official integrations for many SDKs, like Poki, Crazy Games

We released today Defold 1.13.0 - a huge release with spring clean up and a lot of nice features, like:

  • Morph Targets (aka Blend Shapes) support for 3D animation
  • Box2D Lua scripting API - you can now access almost all Box2D functions, create chains, joints, shapes, AABBs, etc
  • Full focus on wasm-web - asm.js is removed, so the web target is now centered on modern WebAssembly builds
  • Frustum culling for Particle FX
  • Editor endpoint - useful for automated testing, tooling, and workflows (Defold works great with all agents)
  • HTML5 splash image contained to canvas
  • and many more features for other platforms too, fixes, editor QoL improvements and new features, and many optimizations

Full Release Announcement can be found here: https://defold.com/2026/06/22/Defold-1-13-0/

If you find such news interesting, I can post, whenever we'll have new releases and describe them especially from web games developer perspective. Next one will be including e.g. new Lights components for easier setups of more complex 3D projects and we'll make sure the examples using them will be running smoothly on web! If not and this is too obnoxious, let me know! :)

Best Regards!
