ios 8 + pixi

Hey guys, I'm not doing anything exciting, but for some reason I can't get a stage to render on ios 8 even though webgl is supposedly supported.

    var renderer = PIXI.autoDetectRenderer(400, 300);    elem[0].appendChild(renderer.view);    var stage = new PIXI.Stage(0xFF0000);

The code works fine on Chrome, Safari (once I enabled WebGL) but fails on ios8 Simulator and ios device by just showing the canvas element but it is white rather than red (and nothing I draw on it seems to be visible)...

Any ideas?
