[WIP] Shiny Gauntlet

Play as Patch, the flickering spirit, in this action rogue-lite adventure. Explore the ever changing Gauntlet. Use different weapons, and collect shiny things to survive as many floors as you can!

The game is an infinite dungeon runner that draws inspiration from legend of zelda, binding of isaac and nuclear throne. You explore the depths of the Gauntlet as you try get the highest score on the http://

Patch Notes

 

Revamped artwork for mobs (cultists)


Added different types of cultists (different variations per floor)


Removed ghost weed


Added placeholder artwork for the different floors


Added new music to second floor onwards


You can now reflect some projectiles (by attacking them or using the warrior’s shield to block them)


Fixed bugs!! (hopefully i caught them all)

Hi Spritewrench

 

Loved the look of the graphics in this game and gameplay looks fun. Unfortunately Im on a Mac so will have to try and get on a PC and play it.

 

Is there a title page for this game - I dont see one here - am I missing it on the full game?

  • Tweaked floor types: Floor types change every 2 floors

Soft Update
Due to a lack of time and the scope of this weeks feature, a playable build is not available this week :'( . However, feel free to take a gander at some of the new classes!

A number of the new classes are functionally hybrids of the base 5 (mage, warrior, priest, thief, archer). Each of these classes has access to both of their base class passives (Teleport, Half damage, Increased Light, Identify Scroll, Increased Speed) and a unique active ability.

 I'm not dead folks!  Just been experimenting with some stuff!  Belated Happy Holidays and Belated Happy New Year everyone!
 
 
Controls:
 
Keyboard
WASD - to move (double tap in a direction to dash)
ARROW Keys - to attack
Q - to eat food
E - to swap weapon
R - Fuse weapons
SPACEBAR - special class ability

Notes:

colored meter at the bottom of the screen to denote your current weapons durability (weapons will break once meter reaches 0)
Shop now only available between floors
You are now graded based on performance on a floor (this is how you get gold)
Defeated monsters spawn chests
Chests have a chance to drop the following:
    Food
    Scrolls
    Rings

Seeing as this is a html5 game developement forum, I think what he means with "title page" is a link to an online browser playable version of your game. Your game is distributed as a massive 60 MB executable so what does this have to do with html5 game developement?

 

Also, could you explain why shiny_gauntlet.exe contains refrences to passwordbox, dropbox, onedrive, keepersecurity, paymill, gocardless, wepay, thepaymentscompany, moneybookers and torproject?

Well the game is developed using phaser and its wrapped in node-webkit.  As long as the technology is used, it counts as an html5 game. Additionally what references are you talking about? I'm not sure what you mean.

Ah ok, from looking at the game it wasn't immediately obvious that it was developed using phaser and javascript that's why I asked.

 

And if you open the .exe file in notepad++ or a hexeditor, you can find those terms I mentioned. From the looks of it, I suspect your browser history somehow ended up inside the executable.

Possibly. Just wanted/need to make sure that it wasnt the node-webkit wrapper that I've been using:Web2exe. Time for a little more investigation

  • Quests! You can now take on quest on behalf of the 5 guilds and earn rewards
  • Players are now able to prep for exploration prior to entering the dungeons
  • Scrolls have been simplified
  • Ranking system has been changed.  You are now ranked based on your completed quests.
  • Death results in reset of your character (gold, stats, weapons, etc...).  Your char remains on the leader boards but is marked as dead and his/her rank cant improve.
  • Moved monster hp bar to the top of the screen
  • Added health bar animations
