  1. Hi, I'm prototyping a turn-based strategy game and I would need the display a the world map as tiles (orthogonal, isometric, hexagonal, I don't care at the moment, I will go the easier way...) The main requirement is that I would need to easily change the texture on a tile depending on the player actions. What is the best (simplest) framework for this? I see phaser, pixi or melon could do it, but which one has as the simplest API for tile maps? Thanks you for your advice!
  2. Hi! I am fairly new to Phaser 3 and I have 1 very simple game under my belt (a bulldozer moving rocks around). I am now trying my hand a tile maps so I downloaded Tile and made my map following a few tutorials and now I have my map I have everything set but I keep getting "Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'TILED_JSON' of undefined". I have done alot of reading and I can't seem to find anything helping me with problem. This is all the code I have for right now I am just trying to get my head around tile maps. I have been trying to figure this out for about 2 hours now and I am

  4. I am building a game using a Tile Map. The Map loads and all appears fine. I can move the player right and left with no issues. Unfortunately, I have been unable to get movement up and down. I have scoured web with no success. I am not looking for 'Pac Man" auto movement. I want the player to move on keyboard input. Here is the relevant sections of code: this.physics.arcade.gravity.y = 200; // The player and its settings player = this.add.sprite(200, this.world.height - 250, 'dave'); // We need to enable physics on the player this.physics.arcade.enable(player); // Player
  5. Hi guys, I need some help with this game I'm working on. I've created a platformer map with Tiled and I'm trying to get the game to work with phaser, but it just doesn't work. I get an error code saying: Phaser.Tileset - image tile area is not an even multiple of tile size and another error repeating 5 times saying Tilemap.createLayer: Invalid layer ID given: null The code (commented out codes are a little messy) is as follows. Please help. I also would like to make one of my tile maps solid and would like to know how. <!doctype html> <html lang="en"> <hea

  7. I'm trying to follow the starstruck tutorial in typescript, but for some reason when i add the line this.game.load.tilemap('level1', 'assets/level1.json', null, Phaser.Tilemap.TILED_JSON)my game wont run passed the preload method. The file path is definitely correct - and i know this because the other files in the same folder are loading fine (tested). Chrome is giving me the error: Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found) http://localhost:16322/assets/level1.jsonUncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token < localhost/:1 what could be causing th
  8. I have created a loader for tiled in the JSON format for my JavaScript game. The game is based on a 2048 x 1280 map and my canvas size is 704 x 608. So my predicament is how would i create a viewport/camera when the player approaches the edge of the canvas ,so that the map will move? In my situation, it is a little more difficult, because im not using a standard 2D array like most of the tutorials, so it is confusing me very much. The code for loading my map is like so: function Level (){var data;this.tileset = null;var returned;var t = this;this.load = function(name){$.ajax({type:"POST",u
